The Microsoft Windows Registry is a database on your operating system that contains and configures the large amount of files that are required in running processes and on your PC. Every time you load something new or remove a program from your system, the information is stored here. At times, traces of uninstalled programs and other invalid files accumulate in it and clutter it up. The first sign that your registry needs cleaning is when your computer becomes slow and starts to show error messages; with time, your system may even crash.
